Talking Points for your time at the Table of the Lord

Based on what we learned in our study of God’s word, here are some talking points for you to discuss with the Lord during your time with Him this week.  This is just a starting point.  As you review the scriptures and the class, listen to what Holy Spirit is highlighting to you and discuss those things with the Lord.  This is a very simple way to encounter God each day.

This weeks Scripture:  1 Kings16:29 – 18:46; 22:41-43; 2 Chronicles 17

Other Scriptures Referenced:

Talking point 1:  1 Kings 16:31.  Ahab formed an alliance with the King of Sidon through marriage to his daughter Jezebel.  Jezebel was a worshipper of Baal and brought that influence into the Kingdom of Israel.  She represents everything that is not aligned with God’s heart and purpose for us that becomes a part of our lives and pulls us away from the Lord.  Ask the Lord to show you any Jezebel in your life and how you can rid your life of it.

Talking point 2:  1 Kings 16:34.  Jericho was a kind of firstfruits offering to the Lord and thus Joshua pronounced a curse on anyone who tried to rebuild it.  Hiel rebuilt it an experienced the curse in his own family.  God takes first fruits seriously.  Ask the Lord if there is anything you have given to Him which you have later taken back.  Repent of that if there is anything.  Then ask the Lord what you should give to Him as your first fruits for this month.  Make a habit of bringing a first fruits offering to the Lord each month.

Talking point 3:   2 Chronicles 17:7-10. Jehoshophat sent those who knew the Word of God and the requirements of God around his kingdom to teach the people how to honor the Lord by following His commands.  As a result, the fear of the Lord fell on the surrounding nations and people bringing peace to Judah.  The Lord has been teaching you many things.  Ask the Lord to show you how to make the truths from His word a real part of your life.  Record the things He is showing you and begin to make a concerted effort to live by them.  Ask the Lord to make your life such that will influence people around you.

Talking point 41 Kings 17:7 – 16.  God told Elijah to go to Zarephath where He had commanded a widow to take care of him.  When Elijah got there, the widow did not have the means to provide for Elijah let alone herself and her son.  Elijah held faith in what God said was the reality of the situation and as a result God miraculously provided.  Ask the Lord where you need to grow in your faith in what He has told you about your life and circumstances.   Ask Him to increase your faith.  Declare God’s truth over what you see in the natural and do those things He is asking of you even though they appear impossible.

Talking point 51 Kings 18:43=44.   Elijah trusted in the reality of what God said He was going to do even when the fulfillment did not appear in his natural reality.  So he pressed in to the promise of rain telling his servant to check 7 times.  When the littlest sign of fulfillment was seen, he sent word to Ahab to get away from Mt Carmel before the storm hit.  Ask Holy Spirit to show you where you have weakened in your faith because you have not seen the answer yet.  Ask the Lord to strengthen you faith to press into the promise until you see the beginning of the answer.  Then declare the full answer has come and move forward in faith and strength to claim it all..
