Talking Points for your time at the Table of the Lord
Based on what we learned in our study of God’s word, here are some talking points for you to discuss with the Lord during your time with Him this week. This is just a starting point. As you review the scriptures and the class, listen to what Holy Spirit is highlighting to you and discuss those things with the Lord. This is a very simple way to encounter God each day.
This week’s Scripture: 2 Kings 5:1 – 6:23;
Other Scriptures Referenced: 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
Talking point 1: 2 Kings 5:11-12. Naaman went to Elisha for healing he had heard was available through him. He expected Elisha to come out and perform some religious ceremony over him to bring the healing. When Elisha sent a servant with the message to go and wash in the muddy waters of the Jordan river, Naaman got angry and went away still unhealed. Ask the Lord to reveal where you have taken offense at Him because of unmet expectations and talk with Him about it. Repent of not doing what He had asked and do that thing. Healing is awaiting you spiritually, mentally, emotionally and even physically.
Talking point 2: 2 Kings 5:13-14. Naaman’s servants encouraged him to put his offense aside and at least try what the prophet had told him to do. When he did, he was instantly healed of leprosy. Ask the Lord to remind you of the things He has asked of you in the past which you may not have done because it seemed, foolish, irrational or just contrary to common sense or science (you thinking). Repent of your disobedience and do those things you can still do. Ask the Lord to strengthen your faith in Him so when HE asks such things of you going forward, you can respond immediately. Meditate on Hebrews 11 talking over your faith with the Lord and learning from Him and His work in others lives.
Talking point 3: 2 kings 5:26. Elisha’s servant Gehazi ran after Naaman to take some of what he had offered Elisha which Elisha had refused. Elisha confronted him and told him that it was not a time to take or receive anything from the work God was doing for His own glory through him. Gehazi was cursed with leprosy because of that. Ask the Lord to show you where your motives for service to the Lord has been less than His glory. Talk to Him about how to put Him first in all you do and ask Him to strengthen your faith to trust Him to provide all you need (Matt 6:25-34).
Talking point 4: 2 Kings 6:25-27. Elisha’s servant looked out and saw the armies of Aram surrounding Dothan to take Elisha and was afraid. Elisha told him not to fear because Elisha saw God’s Host protecting them in the spiritual realm. Ask the Lord to teach you to see everything around you in the spiritual and not just the natural. Talk with the Lord about how to grow in your spirit man so you can see with His sight and perspective and walk in greater faith and less fear.
Talking point 5: 2 Corinthians 10:3-5. We discussed our weapons and how to stand against the demonic thoughts (attacks). Re-listen to the end of the class where we talked about this and ask the Lord to show you the truths from His word that you can stand on to take captive the thoughts of the enemy attacking you, your family and our nation and our world. Stand on those truths and declare them out loud until your heart receives them as truth and you act in faith on them.
