Talking Points for your time at the Table of the Lord
Based on what we learned in our study of God’s word, here are some talking points for you to discuss with the Lord during your time with Him this week. This is just a starting point. As you review the scriptures and the class, listen to what Holy Spirit is highlighting to you and discuss those things with the Lord. This is a very simple way to encounter God each day.

Talking point 1: 1 Kings 19:1-9. Elijah had just experienced an amazing encounter with God, yet Jezebel caused him such doubt and fear he ran literally to the other end of the country where he sat exhausted and discouraged ready to give up on the Lord’s calling for his life. Ask the Lord to show you the Jezebels in your life that are causing you fear or doubt in your walk with Him. These may be human or ideological. They are those things that attack your heart and mind after some of your greatest times with the Lord. Talk with the Lord of His goodness and great power already shown you. Ask Him to build your faith to stand where you are and not run from the threats of these Jezebels.
Talking point 2: 1 Kings 19:9-18. The Lord met Elijah on Mount Horeb and corrected his perspectives of his life and the situations around him and commanded him to return to the work God had for him. Ask the Lord to give you His perspective on the things happening in your life and around you. Talk with Him especially about those things which bring fear or discouragement to you. Let Him redirect you back into His work for you wherever you may have left off.
Talking point 3: 1 kings 19:19-21. When Elijah anointed Elisha, Elisha took everything associated with his life to that point and burned it as a sacrifice to the Lord and then left that life and moved forward into what God had for him, leaving no means of turning back. Ask the Lord to show you whatever you may be holding onto from the past that is a safety net that you can return to if this “God stuff” doesn’t work out. Ask Him to help you break those ties so you can move only forward with Him into all He has for you.
Talking point 4: 1 Kings 20. When Ben-Hadad attacked Samaria, God worked with Ahab to show Himself mighty and faithful in order that Ahab would turn to Him. In the process, God revealed that His purposes and plans in the spiritual realm are often very different from what we see in the natural realm. Ask the Lord to show you what He is doing in the situations in your life. Ask Him to guide you through everything happening and to give you wisdom to know what to do.
Talking point 5: 2 Chronicles 19:1-2. When Jehoshaphat returned from helping Ahab in his war against Aram for Ramoth Gilead, a prophet met him and gave a word concerning God’s displeasure with Jehoshaphat for his alignment with this evil king. Ask the Lord to reveal any relationship in your life that is not an alignment He would have you enter into. Ask Him to remove those relationships and show you with whom you should be aligned at this time.
