Holy means set apart from, different. According to Scripture, this is what we were called to be. We have already been sanctified (set aside from the rest of the world) by God in Christ Jesus. His purpose in this is that we would live lives differently than the world. Yet we too often clamor to fit in and be a part of this world . . . to be accepted by others and we do what this world does. Jesus’s teaches were very contrary to what this world does. He told us we would not fit into this world if we followed Him. He warned us we would be hated and shunned and persecuted by this world if we followed Him. What gives us the gall to think we should be a part of and accepted by the world around us. We are called to be different, set apart and light to this world. We were told to count it all joy when the trials and persecution comes. Jesus says “You are different in Me. Live different. Speak different. Be different. And do so from My love in you.” We say, “But I’m not there yet.” Stop making excuses. If any man be in Christ he is a new creatin. The old has gone. The new has come. We all already have everything in us to fulfill our calling to be holy. . . Christ in you the hope of glory. The world is waiting.
