As we are seeking the Lord and desiring to hear His voice, remember, God most often chooses the simple things in which to manifest Himself and through which to speak. Elijah heard the Lord’s voice in the still small whisper, not in the storm, the fire or the earthquake. When God chose to come to mankind, He did not come as a King or a great warrior (though He is both), rather He came in the form of a newborn baby in the home of a humble carpenter. We expect the Voice that is like many rushing waters to come loudly and the Shekinah Glory to splash on the scene with a dazzling blinding display. However, more often than not, the voice is heard in the quiet and stillness and the Shekinah is seen in the dazzling glory of the simplicity of nature around us. Stop looking for the show of the divine and look for the Lord in everyday life. Those who sought the throne to find the Messiah missed the manger.
God is Good. He meets people where each one is and manifests Himself as each needs to see Him He was the unknown God to the Athenians. Paul presented God, in Acts 17, Who has chosen times and places for us that we may seek Him, reach out for Him, and find Him. God is Holy, and yet through Jesus, sinners can meet Him. He is near at all times, even within us. We must open our hearts to the beauty of His Presence, and His call. Be still and wait patiently for the Lord. He even fights our battles. He uses humans to edify one another and advance His Kingdom. Praise His Holy Name.
