Today we celebrate the resurrections of Jesus from the dead however, most keep this day as a memorial. Resurrection is not something that happened in the past that we memorialized with a special service and a dinner. It is something God did to you in Christ that has become who you are. We as believer are resurrected life and we need to live as such in this world. You see, when Jesus conquered death, He completely conquered death and all it’s effects on us. God raised Him out of the grave on the morning of the 3rd day. The 3rd day of what? The Feast of Unleavened Bread. The 3rd day of that feast was the Feast of First Fruits when the first of the Barley harvest was brought to the Lord and offered as a sacrifice of praise for the harvest and to ask God to bless the rest of the harvest. Jesus was the first fruits of the harvest of God of those delivered from death. Paul says in Ephesians 2 that “God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus”. Both verbs are in the aorist tense in Greek indicating a completed action that is still happening into the future. Meaning when Christ rose, all those who God knew would bow their knee to Him as Lord were raised victorious over death from that point onwards. That’s why Paul prayed that the church would “know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms.”
You see, we walk in the resurrection every day God gives us to breath on this earth. Resurrection is what and who we are as the children of God and citizens of His Kingdom. We are that great mystery Paul preached “Christ in you the hope of glory.” The Church over the centuries has lost her power because she turned who she is into a once a year memorial service and defiled it by removing it from the heart of God. As we go through this day. let us give Holy Spirit room to show us the power of the resurrection that is in us to give us full victory over, sin, shame, guilt, sickness, disease, evil and all the works of the devil in our lives and in our world. The one who first overcame death and rose out of the grave to prove it is now seated on the throne as the Father is placing all His enemies under His feet. You see, resurrection is not something we are looking forward to, it is something we live in every moment of our life. ARISE and live now!
